Spotlight on Brides – Audrey O’Meara
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Myself and Audrey have had an amazing relationship since the start of my career, from a trainee to a salon owner.
I suppose I had an advantage in creating Audrey’s hair for her wedding as I’ve created all her hairstyles for any significant event in her life; from her 18th, 21st, grad, Miss Clare, Clare Rose, engagement party and then of course, her wedding day.
We first put in place a year-long plan for how we were going to get Audrey’s hair in tip-top condition. As Audrey has been a client of mine for many years, he knows the value of using the best and right products for her hair and always takes my advice on the right products to use. Because Audrey is blonde, we used Joico Colour Endure Violet Shampoo for toning blonde hair. We also used a mask from the Joico range; Intense Hydrator to keep her hair healthy in the run up to the big day.
We arranged a colour plan for the year which consisted of her having her highlights maintained every six weeks and a full head of highlights the week before the big day. We kept trims to a quarter of an inch, every 12 weeks as we wanted her length for the big day.
Once we discussed her style and theme for the wedding, we started picking hairstyles that would compliment her face shape, dress and personality. We discussed the bridesmaid’s hair to ensure they would complement the bride and fit in with the overall style. Audrey had one trial before the big day. At her trial, we did two different styles concentrating on the front section more as we were unsure about whether the final style would be up or down.
Our makeup artist Linda worked with Audrey to create her ideal look for the big day. They decided on a dewy look on the skin with a more dramatic eye and a neutral lip colour. A highlighter was also used to define Audrey’s beautiful cheekbones.
The night before her wedding, we shampooed and blow-dried Audrey’s hair, ensuring there would be no fly-away pieces for the next day. On the morning of the wedding, Audrey was in the salon for 8am as the ceremony was scheduled for early afternoon. We prepped Audrey with heated rollers before creating the upstyle. The result was a feminine yet sophisticated entwining up style while the front was ruched to create a soft and textured look. Audrey wore a full length cathedral veil and a burette in the side of her hair. The bridesmaids’ hair was designed to compliment Audrey’s hair, with soft chignon up styles.
It was a pleasure to work with Audrey and her bridal party to ensure she felt the very best she could about her hair and makeup on her big day.
